One of the saddest aspects of this situation is that Kevin Cummins and Tony Kranz tried every way possible to obtain this information before it was finally escalted into a lawsuit. The City had every opportunity to turn over these records so that Encinitas citizens could understand why Jennifer Smith and others in the Finance department compliment themselves on the outstanding economic health of the city, while care for the infrastructure is visibly neglected for years at a time.

They had every opportunity to comply, but chose instead to let Glenn Sabine take this case to court and lose. Now they have voted to let him try again in a fruitless attempt to justify their wrongheaded position. Sabine makes out every time they sue. Too bad that he gets rewarded for continuing to do a terrible job. The rest of us have to perform to get paid.

I'd like to ask Encinitas residents, has it been worth it to have Glenn Sabine cost us $80,000 for the first lawsuit that he lost, or would everyone else have liked to have had them turn over the information to Kevin? To add insult to injury, they are going to take it to court a second time and lose again! Dan Dalager was in a minor league as compared to Sabine!
