OCEANSIDE — Oceanside police are investigating a possible hate crime after an African American man was assaulted on 1300 block of Division Street on May 10 at approximately 11:46 p.m.
The 45-year-old victim was left with significant head injuries and a large laceration above his right eye after he was assaulted by three Hispanic men who shouted racial slurs during the attack. The San Diego man was working in Oceanside as a security guard. He was lost and walking in the area when the attack occurred.
The victim was transported to the Tri-City Medical Center where he was treated and released from the hospital. The suspects are outstanding.
