WETLANDS VISIT

Supervisor Pam Slater-Price shared her appreciation of the San Dieguito wetlands with teens from the Ocean Discovery Institute. The Institute uses science exploration to engage urban and diverse young people in three ways: education, scientific research and environmental stewardship. The students from the inner city peered through telescopes and hiked the trails that run along the newly-restored wetlands in Del Mar, a project spearheaded by Slater-Price. The teens learned about wildlife and watersheds and about the kinds of careers available for people interested in the environment. Courtesy photo
