yea-im a salesperson from a weekly periodical…and this is directed towards jackass..yes you "viewfinder"…."dont ever give your credit card # to a salesperson for a weekly periodical"…r you serious? you are obviously someone from some daily rag or some other wanna be bad ass..I take offense to that, because I take credit cards all week, and have never done anything unethical nor do i support anyone who would do anything unethical..gee lets see how many weekly periodicals there are…ok and how many advertisers are there in each? ok now lets see, if im an advertiser and I want to place an ad, what the F%$&* do you expect me to pay with?…seashells?..oh ok ill just fill out and mail in a check, cuz i totally have time for that….consumers and businesses are protected by fraud protection laws/insurance…what the hell am i gonna do with someones credit card # anyways?…not to mention advertisers sign contracts…if you sign a contract and dont read it then youre gonna try and argue over it, maybe you should read something before you sign it..i cant speak for every weekly out there, but I know here we stick to a system and it works pretty well..occasionally youre gonna have some moron blowhard who didnt actually read the agreement before he signed it and its then gonna piss and moan cuz he thinks he got overcharged 32$..When really, he just hates his life and feels it necessary to try and make someone else suffer with him..

You should look at this as an opportunity to get attorneys fees based on a lack of Merit by this guy. Threats against free speech and commerce will go nowhere but with attorneys fees and damages into the Kydd pocket.

I applaud Jim Kydd and the Coast News for being unafraid to take a stand and defend himself and the newspaper against such an obvious bully. I have been in the publication business for 35 years and have only seen this kind of blatant coercion twice, and both times the bullies lost. I have been a loyal Coast News reader when it began as The Beach News more than 20 years ago. I also know many of the past and current advertisers, who will all stand behind Jim Kydd’s business ethics. I have also known the Kydd family for more than 20 years. I have never seen Jim or Chris practice anything other than strict business and personal ethics in any of their dealings with businesses and individuals on any level. As a matter of fact, I would count Jim and Chris among the top 5 people I know who possess a high degree of integrity, values, morals, and kindness and compassion. Yes, I said kindness and compassion. Don’t believe me? Just ask his staff, his friends, his neighbors, his advertisers, and others in the community. And I don’t mean the disgruntled folks like "Viewfinder" who posted a very mean-spirited and untrue posting below. What’s the matter Viewfinder….afraid to post your real name? Sour grapes? And just how do you know they "can’t" find a replacement for their friend, the late BoB Nanninga? Maybe they don’t WANT to. Maybe Bob was irreplaceable!!! Maybe not replacing Bob is a testimony to friendship. But I guess your little pea-brain didn’t think about that. What you are spewing is hateful and uncalled for. Plus you need to get your facts in line before you post something untrue. What are you? 12 years old? Or just a shill for Allegretti? Oh, that’s it. A shill. Allegretti should rename his business Mean Street Media. He and his investor group should be ashamed of themselves for their behavior. They have no idea of fair play, nor do they care. The free market system is of no use to them. But they can parade their big time corporate lawyers in to threaten to shut down every competitor they don’t like or who is "better" than their own enterprise. Good luck Allegretti. Ethics and integrity win over coercion and bullying every time. Weasels never win in the long run.

Anyone else wonder ‘Why’ The Coast News cannot find a writer/columnist to take the place of the late Bob Nanninga on Page 4?
Aside from Nanninga being one-of-a-kind, clearly, in a local society of tens of thousands of writers/journalists and poets in North County Coastal San Diego, even the most starving artists have been warned by their brethren that the Kydds are completely untrustworthy.
How else can one explain a ‘local’ paper than seems incapable of finding and publishing a new voice?
NOTE: Never give a credit card number to a salesperson from any local weekly periodical…EVER.
The Kydd’s current attempt to ‘cry (foul) fowl’ is absolutely hysterical. If it wasn’t for legal advertising requiring publication, this father/son publishing act would have been relegated to the bottom of local bird cages only, where they clearly belong.

It’s a shame that Main Street Media has to resort to threats against Rancho Santa Fe News and the La Jolla publisher. Their negative approach to business only adds to what’s wrong with large business! I applaud Jim Kydd for standing tall and exposing them for what they really are- just another corporation trying to make as much money as possible. Shame on them!
