5th annual dog day event set
SOLANA BEACH — Dogs and their owners looking for a spetacular time are encouraged to attend the fifth annual Paws in the Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 20 at La Colonia Park, 715 Valley Ave.
The free event, presented by the Solana Beach Parks and Recreation Commission, will include a variety of contests, activities and exhibitions. Rescued pets will be available for adoption.

This year’s pawticipants include the Spay-Neuter Assistance Program, Cutting Edge K9 Rehab, the San Diego Humane Society, Emergency Animal Rescue and Helen Woodward Animal Center, as well as businesses that specialize in positive pet training, holistic pet care and spas that allow owners to pamper their pooch.
Contests will begin at 1 p.m. and include prizes for the ugliest, cutest, smallest and biggest dog, cutest puppy, best tail wagger, best costume and closest owner-pet lookalike.
Dogs must be on leashes. Gently used dog toys, leashes, beds and blankets will be collected for animal rescue groups.
