Agua Hedionda Lagoon center fills January calendar

CARLSBAD — The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation Discovery Center, 1580 Cannon Road, has a host of events planned for the new year.
It will offer a four-week yoga class with both morning or evening classes, on Tuesday and Thursday at 8:30 a.m. beginning Jan. 11 and on Monday and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 10. Call (760) 804-1969 to register.
A lecture on “Land & Sea Creatures of the Lagoon” will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 13
Speakers Jordan Ahle and Nathan Spindel will cover the wide variety of creatures co-existing in and around the lagoon. Come and find out who swims below and who roams the shore of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon.
A Lagoon Birding Walk will be held at 3 p.m. Jan. 15. Meet at the Lagoon Discovery Center, 1580 Cannon Road, for an introduction to the trails and birds of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon. Bring water and binoculars and be prepared for a leisurely informative stroll.
Family Movie Night is at 7 p.m. Jan. 28. Bring the family down to see “Babe.” Have the youngsters bring a blanket or sleeping bag to get cozy. $1 per person includes popcorn and drinks.
A lecture is set on “The Geologic Origin of the Agua Hedionda” at 7 p.m. Feb. 10, offered by Ivan Colburn complete with cool old-time topographic maps.
