CARDIFF-BY-THE-SEA — Cardiff-by-the-Sea, a beach town known for its walkability, its great surfing, and its strong sense of community, is coming together for a fundraising event – a district-wide rummage sale to be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Multi Purpose Room at Cardiff Elementary, 1888 Montgomery Ave. Jan. 8.
All proceeds go toward supporting programs at the schools. Donations of all kinds are welcome and can be dropped off from noon to 7 p.m. Jan. 7.
“We are excited and proud to be a part of this community, where parent participation is extraordinarily high, and everyone is so committed to the education and well being of their children,” said Eva Meier, one of the organizers of the event. “In these tough times, we need to do all we can to help maintain small class sizes and ensure our kids get a solid and broad education, including extracurricular activities.”
Any unsold items will be donated to Salvation Army of San Diego. The Cardiff Schools Education Association is a volunteer, non-profit organization made up of parents, staff, and community members committed to improving the quality of education of children within the district. It does this by raising funds to pay salaries, keep class sizes small, and provide an enriched curriculum including physical education, sciences, art and music.
