They get to avoid any discussion of an issue that they don’t agree with, so that there is a reduced awareness of many public issues. They do not have to vote on items and leave a record of accountability for the way that they voted. They also get to adjourn the meeting early and go out for drinks instead of dealing with the trivial matters of Encinitas voters!
