SAN DIEGO — According to nbcsandiego.com, police have arrested Larry Hoagland in connection with the pipe bomb that nearly took his wife’s life Sept. 23 in a Rancho San Diego neighborhood.
He was arrested on Sept. 28 and the Sheriff’s Department says investigators from multiple agencies uncovered evidence linking Mr. Hoagland to the bombing attempt, but they are not releasing the information to the public.
Connie Hoagland had been working at a residential day care facility in Rancho San Diego when she was seriously injured after getting in her truck and starting the engine causing the pipe bomb to explode at about 4:15 p.m.
Residents living in two-dozen homes on the street were forced to evacuate.
Investigators said another pipe bomb was found near the victim’s home, though it’s not clear if the incidents are related.
Mrs. Hoagland was rushed into surgery and treated for severe burns at UCSD Burn Center.
Court records show the Hoaglands recently filed for bankruptcy, and a hearing in that case was held in federal court the day before the pipe bomb explosion.
