DEMA has a plan that will pay EUSD at least $100,000 per year in income for the district, AND allow the district to hold onto the property and wait for property values to rise again.
A Community Garden and Arts Center are included in the plan.
Income streams plus arts and community gardens downtown make so much more sense AND you get the income PLUS you continue to own the asset of Pacific View.
Instead, the geniuses that run EUSD, want to sell it for under $2 million dollars at the bottom of the market, AND are trying to pass Proposition P on November 2, 2010, which asks for $44 million dollars, $6.7 million of which is earmarked for turnng 10 acres into a community garden and staging area for field trips to the Heritage Museum and Quail Gardens.
Yes, these are the same people in charge of your children's education.
Frightened? You should be.
The fact that the Quail Gardens Drive property will need a 4/5ths council vote to change the Encinitas Ranch Specific Plan, OR a vote of the people is being carefully omitted from all the marketing for Prop P.
Did we mention the $5 million dollars for solar panels that the taxpayers will be paying for until 2040?
Finally, guess how much $44.2 million dollars is after 30 years of general obligation bonds with compounding interest?
That's right, over $100 million. And not one nickle for teachers.
But hey, its your money.
EUSD should hold on to the property and let DEMA make money for them.
