SAN MARCOS — The city of San Marcos Community Services will sponsor an interpretive event about birds on Sept. 11 at Jack’s Pond Park, 986 La Moree Rd. From 9 a.m. to noon, participants will explore hands-on displays of feathers, nests and can make a bird feeder to take home. In addition, from 10 to 10:30 a.m., a speaker from Project Wildlife will bring a live bird of prey for up-close viewing and discuss the organization’s mission to protect wildlife.
Project Wildlife serves San Diego County as a nonprofit organization that promotes conservation through education and wildlife care. The organization’s volunteers care for injured, orphaned and sick native wildlife. Rehabilitated animals are released back into their natural habitats. Project Wildlife’s countywide care centers provide emergency first aid, long-term treatment, and veterinary care.
The program is appropriate for children older than 4 who can sit quietly during the presentation. There is a $3 charge per person. RSVP to (760) 744-9000, ext. 3508.
