No layoffs for Del Mar teachers

DEL MAR — At the regular meeting of the Del Mar Union School District Board of
Trustees May 12, the board elected not to issue final layoff notices to the forty-three certificated teachers who received a preliminary layoff notice in March.
The Del Mar Union School District reported that all probationary certificated teachers will return to a teaching position in the district for the 2010-2011 school year. A final layoff notice was issued for one administrative position. The board is considering other cost saving strategies to address the current budget deficit.
