IRS to host Open House

SAN MARCOS — The Internal Revenue Service will host a special nationwide Open House from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 5 to help taxpayers solve tax problems. The IRS office at 1 Civic Center Drive in San Marcos will participate. IRS professionals will be on hand to help people dealing with notices and payments, return preparation and a variety of other tax issues.
“For those who cannot get to an IRS office during the week and would like some in-person assistance, come by on June 5,” IRS spokesman Raphael Tulino said. “If you have a tax issue or problem, our goal is for you to walk out with a solution.”
IRS locations will be equipped to handle issues involving notices and payments, return preparation, audits, and more. IRS staff will also assist with offers-in-compromise.
Complete details can be found at the IRS website at www.irs.gov, keyword search “contact my local office.” At a previous Open House in March, 88 percent of the taxpayers who came in for help had their issues resolved the same day.
