Wild West Fest wants salsa cooks

CARLSBAD — City of Carlsbad Parks & Recreation is calling all cooks to enter the salsa-making contest at the Wild West Fest event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park, 6200 Flying LC Lane, on May 15. There is no entry fee; however pre-registration is required. Download an entry form and contest rules from the Special Events page at www.carlsbadca.gov/parksandrec, or call (760) 602-7519. Deadline for entry is May 12.
Salsa entries will be evaluated by a panel of community judges. Prizes will be awarded to the winners in the following categories: Best Overall, Presentation, Restaurant Salsa, Fruit Salsa, Hottest, Most Unique, and People’s Choice. Attendees may purchase salsa-tasting cards at the event for $3, which also includes a bowl of house chili.
