RUNNING TO REMEMBER

Carlsbad residents Dharma and Tim Nichols got a special gift during the Jan. 24 Carlsbad Marathon, when a group of more than 50 friends, calling themselves “Chloe’s Crew,” joined the race or cheered on the sidelines. The “Crew” was formed to honor the memory of their daughter, Chloe, a student at Olivenhain Pioneer Elementary School, who died in August from a reaction to a medication. “Chloe was a very determined child,” mom Dharma said. “Our friends and supporters wanted to honor her memory and that determination.” Courtesy photo
