CARLSBAD — Tryouts for a Junior Mavericks High School/College Prep baseball sixth- and seventh-grade team are being held Jan. 31 at La Costa Canyon High School, 3451 Camino De Los Coches.
Sixth graders will try out from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and seventh graders will try out from 2:15 to 5 p.m.
The league is a preparation for baseball at the next level and works with players to become a complete ball player. Organizers Brad Marcelino, La Costa Canyon Varsity baseball coach and Jose Balderas, La Costa Canyon head Junior Varsity baseball coach, are looking for players who are willing to work hard and develop their physical and mental game for the next level.
