SUMMER SURF

Kyla Peterson ithe Interscholastic Surfing Federation High School State Champion Longboarder and a former Surfin’ Fire student. Surfin’ Fire a local surf school run by firefighters, will be sponsoring a Charity Surf Day on June 12 at the Oceanside Pier to benefit T.E.R.I. The group is also launching something special this summer with its new nonprofit Girls Leadership Institute surf camp to be held Aug. 21 through Aug. 23 at the Sheraton in Carlsbad. This one-of-a-kind empowerment surf camp created by co-owner Kathy Peterson, is for ninth- through 12th-grade girls. There are scholarships available, along with flexible payment plans. Surfin’ Fire offers year-round lessons and coaching, corporate events for team building, parties, surf tours and expeditions.
