The California Beach Soccer Championships brought 300 teams to Oceanside Harbor for two days of continuous competition. Games ran from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 16 and May 17, on 29 beach soccer fields, making the event the second largest beach soccer festival in the world.
Men’s and women’s championship games were played May 17 in a temporary stadium at the north end of the harbor.
In the men’s championship, Team PUGG from Los Angeles and Santa Cruz faced off with Senegal Beach Soccer National Team, from Dakar, Senegal, in a riveting 4-3 game, which Senegal won.
