CHS band members working to drum up funding

CARLSBAD — A dream trip to the World Percussion Championships in Dayton, Ohio from April 15 to April 19 was just approved by the Carlsbad Union High School District for the Carlsbad High School Drum Line this week, and the youngsters are busy with planning and fundraising.
“Our band budget is a disaster this year due to the economy,” band parent Patricia Caraglio said. “Many families can not pay their share contributions that we depend on to make the band function and the kids are working hard to raise money.”
The group held a garage sale at the same time as the annual Calavera Hills Community Garage Sale March 21, and are gratefully receiving any other monetary donations. Contact CHS Band Director Greg Anderson at [email protected] or call (760) 331-5100, ext. 5765.
The youngsters will be competing in the marching and ensemble categories and will have the experience of watching and interacting with some of the most innovative and creative shows being performed around the nation and world. Anderson believes this year’s drum line “has the talent and dedication that it takes to compete at this level.”
