I was very disappointed by the City Council meeting. I felt the Council did not allow us a full and fair opportunoity to respond to the City as we were given in total 15 minutes for both of us to speak and for rebuttal to the allegarions made.

I want the community to know that I do not "specialize" in domestic violence and never have in my practice. I have represented several victims of domestice violence over the years, many who reside in Solana Beach, but it is not the major thrust of my practice.

Dr. Simon and I gave an honest respresentation of what occurred that led up to the Council meeting in keeping with the level of professional that we both uphold.

I also want to thank Art B. for his remarks on my behalf.

I would like to correct an important factual error in this story. Neither my practice nor that of Ms. Fleischer specializes in domestic violence. In fact, I personally do not work with domestic violence perpetrators at all although I do occasionally work with victims of domestic violence. Characterizing my practice and Ms. Fleischer's practice as specializing in domestic violence is simply inaccurate.

I would also like the public to know that I personally spoke with Tom Warden, Senior Code Compliance Officer, previous to applying for my business certificate. Mr. Warden instructed me to submit a Home Occupation Business Certificate application and indicated that if it was approved by the city, my use of the house as an office would be allowed by the City.

I think the city council made the right decision on this. However, this was not truly an open public hearing and I don't believe Fleischer and Simon were treated in a dignified way. Also, I know Ms. Fleischer personally - I've used her services. She does not specialize in domestic violence as some of the residents represented and as believed by the City Council. This is very disappointing.
