Cyclist struck by vehicle

A cyclist was struck by a truck pulling a white boat at approximately 11:40 a.m. on Nov. 17. John Edwards was traveling south on the Coast Highway 101 near the intersection of Leucadia Boulevard when he was hit by the passing boat. A Sheriff’s department community service officer happened to be in the area as the collision occurred, and was the first to respond. The San Dieguito EMS District responded at 11:45 a.m., and proceeded to backboard Edwards, who was conscious and appeared stable. The accident is considered a hit-and-run.
